SQT Bio-Microneedling Treatment Review

My Journey to Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation by Kathleen

When I decided to undergo a course of Spongilla Spicules (SQT) Bio-Microneedling treatments at Charmaine’s Clinic, I acknowledged that it would be a transformative skincare experience. As someone always on the lookout for non-invasive advanced skincare treatments, I was drawn to how Charmaine would now be blending cutting-edge microneedling techniques with her profound understanding of skin health, both internally and externally.

Why Mitochondrial Health Matters

Consultations with Charmaine have given me a deeper understanding of how crucial mitochondria are for maintaining healthy skin. As the energy source of our cells, mitochondria fuel essential processes like cell turnover, collagen production, and repair. However, as we age, mitochondrial efficiency naturally declines, slowing down skin renewal and contributing to visible signs of aging. Environmental stressors and exposure to harmful chemicals, such as pollution and UV radiation, can further disrupt mitochondrial function. These stressors force mitochondria to work harder to keep up with the increased demand, leading to greater energy deple6on. As a result, skin cells receive less ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate)—the vital energy source—for essential functions like repair and regeneration, causing slower skin renewal and more visible signs of aging. Supporting and protecting these vital structures is therefore essential for optimal skin rejuvenation, and-aging, and cellular repair.

SQT Bio-Microneedling is known for its ability to s9mulate collagen production boost skin renewal, and improve texture, making it especially effective when the skin’s mitochondria are functioning op6mally. To support this, Charmaine recommended professional-grade skincare, including her Cell Defence range, all formulated without harmful chemicals. In her clinic, she exclusively uses and recommends clean beauty products that nourish and protect skin health throughout the treatment process. Along with using the right skincare, factors like hydra6on, quality sleep, regular exercise, and a nutrient-rich diet are essen9al for maintaining mitochondrial func9on. By focusing on these elements, I was able to enhance skin regenera9on and maximise the benefits of my treatments, suppor9ng my skin’s natural rejuvenation.

How a Tailored Skincare Journey Maximised My Results

At Charmaine’s Clinic, my skincare journey had been carefully guided with a regular course of Dermabrasion, Radio Frequency (RF) for skin tightening, Cell Defence Stem Cell Infusion for deep skin rejuvenation, and Facial Contouring to enhance defini6on. Charmaine had been deeply invested in my skin health, always enquiring about my overall well-being to ensure I achieved the best possible results. My homecare rou9ne had included a range of Cell Defence facial products and inner health supplements tailored to my skin’s needs and based on Charmaine’s expert recommendations. She had also incorporated occasional Vitamin A treatments to support skin renewal and radiance. Thanks to this personalised and results-driven approach, my skin was in op6mal condi6on for SQT treatments, allowing me to experience their full benefits.

The Perfect Synergy: Cell Defence Stem Cells and SQT Bio-Microneedling

I am a huge fan of the Cell Defence stem cell products, which have shown to enhance the results of SQT Bio-Microneedling treatments. As Charmaine explained, SQT involves spicules—microscopic needle-like structures—that create microchannels in the skin, significantly improving the absorption of ac9ve ingredients.

This makes Cell Defence stem cells an ideal post treatment serum choice, as their bioactive compounds—rich in peptides, antioxidants, and essential nutrients—penetrate more effectively. The molecular structure of plant stem cells is particularly beneficial, as their small size and biocompatibility allow them to integrate effortlessly with the skin.

Beyond enhancing collagen produc9on and accelerating skin renewal, these bio-actives also support mitochondrial function by fuelling ATP production—the vital energy source of skin cells. Mitochondria rely on key nutrients to generate ATP, which powers cellular repair, renewal, and collagen synthesis. The antioxidants and peptides in Cell Defence stem cell formulations help protect mitochondria from oxidative stress, which assists in ensuring that skin cells remain energised and function optimally.

When combined with SQT Bio-Microneedling, Cell Defence stem cell formulations work at a cellular level—enhancing absorption, boosting skin energy, accelerating rejuvenation, and promoting long-term skin vitality.

My Pre-Treatment Prep

In the week leading up to my treatment, I focused on preparing both my skin and lifestyle for the best possible results. I marked the treatment week in my diary, prioritising recovery and planning my outdoor tasks for early mornings and late evenings to avoid sun exposure. I also prepared a plant-based, antioxidant-rich menu to nourish my body and made a conscious effort to break the habit of unconsciously touching my face. As part of the SQT treatment requirements, I also made sure to exclude active ingredients from my skincare routine during this week.

My SQT Bio-Microneedling Experience: What to Expect

I approached the treatment with some apprehension, unsure of what to expect, especially with the spicules (microscopic needle-like structures) beneath my skin. Charmaine eased my concerns by showing me a video of someone undergoing the treatment, reassuring me that any discomfort would be mild. During the session, I felt heat, slight tightness, and a tingling sensation from the spicules. Charmaine was gentle—massaging in small circles and keeping the treatment only moderately uncomfortable. The final hydra6ng mask leS my skin feeling calm and hydrated. When I leS, my face was a slightly reddened, and I felt pleased with the process.

How My Skin Bounced Back: A New, Refreshing Sensation

The first three days after my treatment were focused on avoiding sun exposure while following a mild skincare regimen. By day three, I noticed the beginning of skin shedding. On the fourth day I began to generously apply the Cell Defence Anti-Glycageing and Lilac Plant Stem Cell Serums in the morning. I immediately noticed how quickly they absorbed into my skin—almost like a sponge soaking up the serum’s potent ingredients. I also commenced cleaning my skin with Cell Defence Wild Chamomile Gentle Cleansing Milk and applying Cell Defence Rich Argan Oil Nourishing Moisturiser and Cell Defence Fenugreek and Hops Eye Moisturiser morning and evening. After four days I could feel some of the benefits of the enhanced absorption—my skin felt more revitalised, smoother, and firmer. I believe that stem cell application in combination with microneedling was a crucial step in improving the penetration of my skincare products. It’s exciting to think that such non-invasive treatments could encourage collagen production and promote skin renewal. After a week I added a nightly application of Cell Defence An6-Pigmenta6on Stem Cells and after 2 weeks Charmaine gave me a specialised facial treatment. I was pleased with my results. My skin felt soft and smooth to the touch, with a plumpness and elasticity that gave it a healthy, refreshed look. The tone had evened out, and areas of pigmentation had noticeably faded, leaving my complexion looking brighter and more refined.

I was especially elated when, one day, I gently pressed on my skin and felt it bounce back— something I hadn’t experienced in a long time! The newfound resilience of my skin was an incredibly satisfying sign that the treatments were truly working.

The Synergy of Internal Care and External Treatments

Looking after my skin from within has been just as important as the external treatments. In consultation with Charmaine, a qualified Naturopath, I learned how hydration, proper nutrition, sleep and exercise all worked together to enhance the effectiveness of my treatment. Charmaine introduced me to a carefully selected course of anti-aging herbal tablets and powders tailored to my individual needs. These supported not only my skin but were instrumental in boosting mitochondrial function, helping to optimise energy production and overall vitality at the cellular level. Charmaine also emphasised that a balanced sleep pattern played a key role in skin health, and provided me with herbal supplements to ensure restful sleep. What’s truly exciting is how this holistic approach—combining internal care with external treatments—has been a rewarding wellness journey for my skin.

Building on SQT Treatments: The Next Step in Skin Rejuvenation with RF

After having three SQT treatments spaced three weeks apart, my skin has continued to gradually improve and I’m excited to take the next step in my skincare journey. Charmaine has been brilliant in guiding me through this process, and after a considerable break, we’ll follow up with a course of Radio Frequency (RF) treatments. RF will help stimulate collagen production and skin tightening, complementing the results of the SQT treatments. What truly set this experience apart is the holistic approach Charmaine offered. Working with Charmaine, who understands the intricate connections between internal health and skin vitality, has made all the difference. It’s been empowering to collaborate with someone who takes a comprehensive approach, which is a stark contrast to working with someone who may not fully understand how internal factors influence skin health.
